Flagler is making some big changes to its freshmen experience. This fall, the college held its first classes for a new initiative to enhance student engagement. The program, called “Ignite,” creates first-year learning communities by placing students in the same classes and giving them a variety of unique experiences together.
The first two learning communities had 20 freshmen each. Through English, government and art courses, they studied the theme of “Understanding Power.” They took field trips together, met at special gatherings and worked on interdisciplinary projects like presidential campaign videos.
Over the next five years, Flagler will expand Ignite to include all incoming freshmen. For more information, go to http://ignite.flagler.edu.
